Individual Therapy (50-minute session): $200
Awakenings Counseling is a private pay practice and does not accept insurance or bill health insurance directly. I am not a Medicaid provider and am considered an out-of-network provider for insurance companies.
If you need to use insurance for therapy, please contact your insurance provider for referrals.
My pricing structure is tiered to provide accessibility and accommodate a range of financial means. I offer sliding scale rates to make ongoing therapy sustainable for you.
Therapy is an invaluable investment in yourself and your future. As such, I believe in accessibility to individualized mental healthcare.
This is why I work outside of insurance networks to prioritize quality of client care and the therapeutic relationship.
This allows us to focus on comprehensive treatment approaches without constraints on the range of therapeutic options often imposed by insurance mandates, which includes:
Confidentiality
Our sessions remain confidential. When services are billed through insurance, insurance companies have access to your medical records, which contain sensitive information.
Diagnosis
I do not have to assign you a diagnosis. Insurance companies require providers to make a diagnosis for reimbursement. However, not all people meet full criteria for a clinical diagnosis. Some examples include relationship issues, self-exploration, personal growth, and overall wellness.
Control
You are in control of your mental healthcare. You get to decide the frequency and duration of therapy. Insurance companies dictate how often and for how long I meet with you and sometimes even the type of therapy provided.
By choosing private pay therapy, we can co-create a treatment plan tailored to your unique concerns.
Before you decide to start therapy, you are entitled to a good faith estimate of how much our work together will cost. You can read about the No Surprises Act here.
I offer an extensive sliding scale fee structure that takes into consideration each individual’s yearly gross income.
My sliding scale has been established on the most ethical and democratic model possible to provide accessibility to a wider range of people from disparate socioeconomic levels.
This model is based on the Green Bottle Method. Please see here if you’d like to read more about it.
My scale is also flexible to accommodate changes in people’s financial situation over time. My overall goal is fairness, reasonableness and equality.
You can contact me for further information regarding my sliding scale fee schedule.
If you are invested in and committed to the therapeutic process, here are some outcomes you can expect from counseling:

Weekly sessions are recommended for new clients. By the time people come to therapy, they are in near-crisis and they are ready to make a change. Starting with weekly sessions helps to build trust and comfortability, as well as some momentum, towards changing what isn’t working.
The frequency of sessions is an on-going, collaborative discussion based on your specific needs. I offer sessions weekly, every-other-week, and monthly depending on individual needs. Generally, session frequency decreases as you make progress.
Once initial goals have been met, I offer “check-in” sessions every few weeks or months to help you stay on track and process any new issues that may arise, in an established and trusted environment.
Mental health is a complex topic and counseling is not a quick fix. Everyone’s circumstances are unique and the length of time depends on your motivation and commitment.
It’s unlikely that you will discover immediate solutions during your first few sessions. Just as it takes time for challenges to begin affecting your life, it will take time to understand them, work through them, and gain clarity and insights. Complex trauma typically requires longer-term therapy.
However, after your first session, I am confident you will feel that our sessions will help you navigate your struggles with more ease and improve your quality of life.
My goal is to help you address your concerns as effectively as possible so you don’t have to be in therapy longer than necessary. It is important to me that we collaborate consistently on your goals and progress to ensure your needs are being met.
Following your intake session, we will begin defining your goals while building a sense of safety and trust through various interventions, such as mindfulness and grounding techniques. Every session is tailored to your specific needs and goals, and no two sessions are the same.
I believe there is a balance between giving space to process whatever comes up, while also providing enough structure to stay on track. Therefore, most sessions will start with a check-in and any reflections from our previous session followed by therapeutic processing focused on your identified goal for the session.
During processing, I incorporate relevant and effective interventions, such as IFS parts work and EMDR, to help you explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a meaningful, deeper way.
I also believe knowledge empowers us to navigate life challenges. So I often incorporate psychoeducation into sessions to facilitate greater awareness and help you apply what you are learning in your daily life.
Yes. Trust is paramount in the counseling relationship. What you share in session will be protected. There are situations where consulting with other professionals, such as psychiatrists, medical doctors, or other counselors, may be helpful.
If so, I will clearly communicate the purpose of the consultation, make sure you are comfortable with what information I share, and ask you to sign a release of information granting me permission to communicate about your care.
If at any time you would no longer like me to communicate with another person(s) about your care, your request will be honored. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which you can find in the HIPAA policy.
The standard meeting time is 50 minutes, but extended sessions are available upon request.
I want you to feel confident in your decision to work with me. This is why I offer a complimentary consultation so you can ask any questions and see if we would be a good fit.
If counseling feels like a good fit, you will be able to identify:
A strong therapeutic relationship is key for safety and progress. You may be sharing things with me that you’ve never told anybody before.
I recommend trying 2-3 sessions. I welcome any feedback and concerns related to our work together. If after a few sessions, you feel that we are not a good fit, I would be happy to refer you to another therapist.
I currently only provide individual therapy to adults ages 18+. I have worked with teens and couples in the past.
I welcome you to reach out! If you would like to ask a question or schedule a free consultation via phone or video, please fill out the contact form or email me at hello@awakeningscounselingpnw.com
I strive to answer all emails and phone calls within normal business hours of Monday-Thursday, 11am-6pm PST, and will typically respond within 24-48 hours.
Schedule your intake session:
After determining we are a good fit, then we will schedule your first appointment during our consultation call. Once scheduled, you will receive a welcome email inviting you to activate your Client Portal where you can view your appointment information and paperwork.
Complete paperwork:
Once your Client Portal is activated, you will be able to complete the digital intake paperwork. Please complete your paperwork a minimum of 24 hours prior to your first appointment. This will allow me to review your information so our first session can be as productive as possible. If you have any questions prior to your session, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Attend your intake session:
During our first session, I will get to know more about you and how I can help. We will review your intake paperwork and address session logistics.
By the end of our first session, we will have a clear idea of your therapy goals and next steps. I strive to create a welcoming space, but please let me know if there is anything you need to feel more comfortable.
To prepare for your first session, complete the digital paperwork, including intake questionnaire, practice policies, and informed consent, through your Client Portal. If you have any questions that come up while completing the paperwork, feel free to e-mail me or ask them during your first session.
The main goal of the first session is to establish a safe and welcoming relationship. We will get to know each other while working together to identify your goals and next steps.
It may be helpful to spend some time reflecting upon your hopes and expectations for therapy prior to your first session so you are invested from the start, but there is nothing in particular you need to prepare.
As a skilled professional, I will guide our first session and make sure you feel at ease.
